Founding Marketer

About GroundBrain

GroundBrain is an early-stage startup rolling out an AI tool for the construction industry. We turn the daily chaos of site reports, documentation and field communication into workflows and information that supercharge people’s work. Our first customers are starting to use the product, and the founders are selling it themselves in five European markets.

We are a mix of professionals from all walks of life. We have taken companies from zero to a billion CZK in turnover, built more than 1 GW of solar power across 18 European countries, and built technology that powers services for the likes of Amazon, Vodafone and Heathrow Airport.

Before you read on: we strongly believe the right person for this role could come from anywhere. Maybe you’ve spent the past 10 years doing marketing. Maybe you graduated yesterday, but you have always pursued your goals relentlessly and found creative ways to reach them. If you have a strong hunch that this role fits your personality, we want to hear from you.

The role

You are the first person focused solely on marketing. There is no playbook and no agency. There are founders who sell, a product customers already use, and an industry problem worth solving. Your goals at this stage are:

  • Make the founder-led sales motion go further. The founders are our most trusted voices in the market, and that trust needs to become a strong brand. Your work unlocks and shapes new conversations with the right decision-makers.
  • Find out how to capture demand that already exists in the market. In other words, lay the foundations of an inbound engine.

This is not a brand role or a social media role. It is a role for someone who treats every campaign as a hypothesis to test, with the goal of bringing new customers through the door. A campaign that misses its number is not a failure. A failure is a campaign we cannot explain, one that taught us nothing we can use next time.

What you’ll do

  • Turn what the founders hear on sales calls, and your own market research, into material that actively supports the sales process. That means LinkedIn posts for the founders, finding speaking slots and opinion-piece opportunities, and more.
  • Set up and run inbound experiments: landing pages, search, LinkedIn, content, webinars and events. Each one has a hypothesis, a target, a budget and an end date.
  • Build the measurement stack: where leads come from, what converts, and what each channel costs per qualified meeting.
  • Keep a running log of what we tried and what we learned. Share your plans, ideas, progress and findings every week.

What we’re looking for

  • You don’t need years of marketing experience. You learn fast and roll up your sleeves. You need to show that you have taught yourself something hard and then used it.
  • You think deeply and move fast. You can sit with a hard question until you understand it, then ship the right thing the next day.
  • You think in experiments. You reach for numbers by instinct: what’s the target, what’s the baseline, and how will we know we were right?
  • You write clearly in English. Our buyers are in the UK, DACH, Benelux and CEE, and English is our working language. Czech is not required, but it’s welcome.
  • You’re comfortable with numbers. You can build a spreadsheet, read a dashboard and notice when a number looks wrong.

What we offer

  • Salary, yay. Your first task is to tell us how much you need to thrive (see below).
  • Flexible time. Outside a couple of team calls a week, you have full freedom over how you organise your time. Wanna work at midnight when the family is asleep? Do it. For this role we care about results, not the time of day.
  • Remote working. Wanna work from your cottage? Do it. We care about results, not which EU address you work from.
  • A real budget for well-defined experiments.
  • Direct work with the founders. You’ll see how a company gets built, and you’ll build part of it.
  • The chance to lead marketing as we grow, including hiring the team behind you once it’s working.

Want to talk?

Write to our CEO, Barbora, at [email protected], and:

  1. Attach a CV that focuses on your achievements.
  2. Tell us your expected hourly rate, as a range in EUR or CZK, and give us one or two sentences on why that is the right level. A well-made argument wins you a seat at the table here, not a shiny CV.
  3. In a few sentences, describe one thing you tested that didn’t work. Tell us what you expected, what happened, what you learned and what you did next. It doesn’t need to be about marketing at all.

We may not be able to reply to everyone, but we promise to try.
